Behind the White Door

Behind the white Door is a sound composition in which three voices fuck – or attempt to fuck – a room. The work deals with desire, power and sex in relation to language and physical space. In considering sexual power play set in language, the literary beginnings of the concept of masochism (Leopold von Sacher-Masoch) and sadism (Marquis de Sade) were important points of departure. The voice composition was originally exhibited in 2008 as an installation, where three speakers were suspended with metal chains in a small white room with a stone tile floor and a white door. The room was placed in the middle of a spacious gallery-room and specifically constructed for the exhibition.
